Job Description
Job Summary (List Format) Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher
- Provide individualized physical education instruction to students with disabilities.
- Assess students' motor skills, fitness, and functional abilities to determine program needs and eligibility.
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and objectives related to physical education.
- Participate in ARD meetings and ensure compliance with special education regulations.
- Design and deliver adapted PE instruction to meet diverse student needs.
- Modify equipment, activities, and instructional strategies to ensure inclusive participation.
- Create engaging, safe learning environments promoting fitness, motor skills, and social interaction.
- Collaborate with general and special education staff, therapists, and parents to support student success.
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate student progress to stakeholders.
- Demonstrate knowledge of IDEA, special education procedures, and adaptive PE practices.
- Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and strong organizational and communication skills.
- Physically able to demonstrate activities, lift adaptive equipment, and work in various instructional settings.
- Part-time, school-year position in San Antonio with hourly rates of $58 $60.
